Organizers of a day long event in Bay City about the state of Saginaw Bay say there are lots of partners working hard to restore the watershed which encompasses 22 regional counties.

Director Michael Kelly of the Great Lakes Office of the Conservation Fund says activities include upgrading fish spawning habitat and public education. Kelly added another positive is the growth of eco-tourism or river trails which people can explore in kayaks or canoes. Kelly warned more research and planning will be needed to address concerns like the increase in PFAS contamination that’s been detected in recent years.
