Curbside Pickup Now Available at Hoyt and Zauel Libraries
The Public Libraries of Saginaw’s new “Click & Collect” feature will make picking up items easier while library buildings are closed to the public.
The library is encouraging patrons with smartphones and tablets to download the new VLC Member Libraries app and use its Click & Collect feature for curbside pick-up at Hoyt or Zauel libraries.
Those without access to smart devices can log into their library accounts on www.saginawlibrary.org to use the Click & Collect feature or contact Hoyt or Zauel libraries by telephone to arrange for curbside pick-ups.
The Click & Collect button shows up in the app when a patron has at least one item on hold at a location that is open for curbside pick-up. Once it has been selected, the user can input vehicle information and an estimated time of arrival, then notify the library when they have arrived at one of the designated pick-up spots in the parking lot — all through the app.
Library staff check out the item(s) being held and either deliver them to the patron’s vehicle or a designated pick-up spot near the entrance to the library building. Both parties can communicate through a built-in chat feature in the app.
The VLC Member Libraries app also allows patrons to manage their checkouts, search for items and place holds. It is available for free in both the iOS and Android app stores by searching for “Saginaw Library”.
The new curbside pick-up link on the library’s website works in similar fashion.
Hoyt Library, 505 Janes Ave., runs its curbside pick-up service from 9 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
Zauel Library, 3100 N. Center Rd, offers curbside service from 9 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays; Noon to 8:45 p.m. on Wednesdays and 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Due to the holidays, library services will not be available this Thursday and Friday, Dec. 24 and 25, and next week on Dec. 31 and Jan. 1.
All Public Libraries of Saginaw buildings remain closed to the public during this phase of reopening. Outdoor book drops are available for returns at all locations.
Patrons who had items on hold at Butman-Fish or Wickes libraries have been given the option to transfer their items to Hoyt or Zauel for curbside pick-up.
Up-to-date information on reopening procedures, online account access, and other online services is available 24/7 on the library’s website, www.saginawlibrary.org, and Facebook page.
Telephone reference is available during normal business hours by calling Hoyt at (989) 755-0904 or Zauel at (989) 799-2771. A new chat feature is also available through the app or the library’s website.
