Court Proceedings Delayed In Flint Woman’s Death As Autopsy Results Awaited

Investigators and prosecutors in Saginaw County are awaiting the results of an autopsy in the death of 46-year-old Teressa Johnson of Flint, resulting in a delay in proceedings with a suspect.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled to take place Tuesday for 46-year-old Daniel Varnes, who is accused of torture, assault with intent to murder and concealing the death of an individual related to Johnson’s death. Her body was discovered September 1 in a motel room in Saginaw Township. Police say Varnes admitted to abusing the woman for at least a week and concealed her body for two days.

Varnes is currently being held in the Saginaw County Jail. A new court date has not been set at this time.
