Chili Cook Off 2018

Homemade Organic Vegetarian Chili with Beans and Cheese

The weather outside isn’t getting any warmer just yet…It is the perfect weather for chili to warm the bones and cut the winter chill. So who has the best chili? Listen To The Mrs is now inviting you to submit your best Chili recipe for the 2018 WSGW Chili Cook Off.

Deadline for entry is September 26, 2018.  Please include your name, address and phone number for each recipe submitted.  If not using the form below, send your recipe to: Chili Cook Off, WSGW Radio, 1795 Tittabawassee Road, Saginaw, MI 48604.

The cook off will take place Wednesday, October 3rd, at the Maytag Store, 3800 Tittabawassee Road in Saginaw.  Eight finalists will be selected from all entries submitted.  Finalists will be required to prep and cook their soup at the store from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.  No home preparations are allowed.  All food products must be obtained commercially.  No home canned or frozen food is allowed.  Judging will take place at 12:00 noon.  Decision of the judges is final.  The judges will score using one total number based on taste, texture and presentation.


  1. First place will win $200.00 in cash
  2. Second place will win $100.00 in cash
  3. Third place will win $50.00 in cash.

Cash prizes are provided by the Maytag Store.  Each finalist will receive an apron from Pioneer Sugar.

***All contestants are required to wear a hat or hairnet.  You will need to prepare four sample plates for the judges and one presentation plate to be photographed.  All recipes become the property of Alpha Media,LLC, and may be reproduced by printing, audio and other electronic means including the internet.
