Consumers Gas Line Workers Donate Thanskgiving Meals to Saginaw Families

Consumers Energy employees who install underground natural gas pipes dug into their own pockets to provide more than 150 Thanksgiving meals in Saginaw.

In total, the workers raised $13,295 to give 457 families full Thanksgiving meals- each including a 12 pound turkey and family-favorite sides like mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, green beans, cranberry sauce, and dinner rolls.

The gas construction operations employees work on Consumers Enhanced Infrastructure Replacement Program (EIRP); upgrading vintage natural gas lines. Construction on these lines helps to improve system reliability and safety.

Steven Hanley, senior field leader for Consumers Energy said in a statement released after the distribution “We become familiar with some of the folks whose yards we work in daily, and we hope delivering turkey dinners in a small way sincerely shows the gratitude we feel toward these understanding customers,[…] Our team takes pride that the funding for these meals comes 100% from those of us who were involved in the work in this neighborhood.”

Crews delivered Thanksgiving meal baskets to 152 Saginaw families near the River Street and M-46 area, in addition to deliveries in Lansing and Pontiac.

This marks the eighth year EIRP crews have provided Thanksgiving meals to different communities in Consumers Energy’s natural gas service territory.
