Consumers Energy Employees Provide Thanksgiving Meals to Flood Impacted Residents

Employees with Consumers Energy Enhanced Infrastructure Replacement Program (EIRP) have provided Thanksgiving meals to 555 members of three different communities.
These include Kalamazoo, Warren and Sanford. A total of 185 dinners were distributed as part of Sanford Strong at Cole’s Wrecking Service. Many lives and homes were affected when the Edenville and Sanford dams collapsed. Consumers Energy crews spent a lot of time repairing natural gas pipes and electric wires in the area. EIRP employees recognized the hardship the Sanford and surrounding areas suffered as a result of the collapse of the dams and pandemic and wanted to give back to residents.
Employees donated over $15,000 to fund this year’s effort, and they also helped assemble and distribute dinners following COVID-19 safety protocols. Note that all the funds raised to purchase ingredients for these dinners was raised entirely by the EIRP natural gas field employees who performed the work along with union council and locals.
Consumers Energy did not contribute any funds toward this effort.
