Consulting Firm Updates Saginaw on ARPA Funds

The Saginaw City Council got an update on American Rescue Plan Act funds during the March 6 meeting.

The presentation was given by David Sernick, a project manager for Guidehouse Consulting. Much of the conversation centered around monitoring the organizations that would be receiving funds. Those organizations received questions to help the city assess how closely they should be keeping an eye on the funds that are given over. Sernick says that an organization that’s designated as “higher risk” isn’t necessrily irresponsible, they just require closer monitoring.

Sernick says that the risk assessment and monitoring plan are two federally-required pieces to distributing ARPA funds. Four of the city’s sub-recipients have already completed those steps and are ready to move forward.
