The family of the Essexville woman killed in a crash February 18 has received an outpouring of support from the community.

52-year-old Polly Christensen was killed by a suspected drunk driver while backing her minivan out of her driveway in the 200 block of West Hampton Road. Her teenage son, a passenger in the vehicle, suffered critial injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment before being transferred to an out of county hospital. According to recent reports, the boy has been upgraded to stable condition.

The 44-year-old driver of the Chevy Silverado that struck the minivan was first taken to a local hospital for treatment, then released into police custody.

Christensen was a paraprofessional at Verellen Elementary School. A Give Send Go page has been established titled Supporting the Christensen Family for anyone interested in making a donation. The Garber Athletic Association is selling blue ribbons and proceeds from those sales, plus sales from concessions, tee shirts and donations are going to the family. Other schools in the area are donating concessions proceeds also.
