Church Volunteer Sentenced to Prison for Sex Crimes, Investigations Into Other Offenders Continue

A Midland man has been sentenced to up to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to three counts second degree criminal sexual conduct with a child under 13.

Brandon Saylor, a former volunteer at Living Word Church in Midland, was originally charged with six counts of criminal sexual conduct and three counts of accosting a child for immoral purposes for incidents dating back as far as 2010. With his guilty plea, six of those charges were dropped. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.

Saylor is the first of two men associated with the church to be charged with sex crimes. In February, Reverend James Randolph was charged with two counts of first-degree and four counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

There have been reports of an investigation into a third leader at Living Word International Church, though no charges have been filed at this time.

Officials with the church say they stand by the victims in the crimes and stress none of the assaults took place on church property.
