Chief Kevin Salter Retires from Flint Township Police Department

The chief of the Flint Township Police Department has retired.

According the department’s website, Kevin Salter started his career with the Flint Township P.D. in 1999, serving many roles throughout the years, including community and school resource officer, a patrol officer, narcotics detective, field training officer, sergeant and lieutenant. He was promoted to chief of police in 2018. He also served as the Fire Chief and in Fire Administration for more than a year.

Prior to his career in Flint Township, Salter served four years in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged. He worked in law enforcement with the City of Montrose and Mount Morris Township Police departments, as well as the Lapeer County Shierff’s Department. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Ferris State University.

Lieutenant Brad Wangler was promoted to Chief earlier this month.
