Cause of Fire Determined in SASA Fire

Students at the Saginaw Arts and Sciences building will remain in online classes until next Tuesday as cleaning and restoration crews work to repair damage caused by a fire on November 17.

Fire officials say the day prior, a flooring contractor was sanding the floor near the northwest exterior entrance to the building and poorly disposed of sawdust from the work, which caught fire and burned the exterior entrance. While the interior of the building was spared damage from the flames, soot and smoke entered the building.

SASA students will return to in person classes on December 2 following the Thanksgiving holiday.
