Burton Police Officer Facing Embezzlement Charge

A former Burton police officer could spend some time in jail after allegedly embezzling money from the department.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton has charged Brendan Stocker, a former canine handler, with one count of embezzlement as an agent or trustee between $1,000 and $20,000. Leyton says Stocker did not return to work after physical therapy but was still clocking in and receving pay.
Stocker is currently out on bond. His next court date is pending.
