Boaters Rescued from Sinking Boat On Saginaw Bay

Some local charter captains helped emergency responders rescue two people whose boat was sinking in Saginaw Bay on Sunday.

According to the Kawkawlin Township Fire Department, crews were dispatched to a report of a boat sinking north of Linwood Beach Marina around 10:55 a.m. Fire personnel arrived on scene and spoke with two local captains who volunteered their vessels to help in the search while a Coast Guard crew from Tawas was en route. After roughly 30 minutes, the sinking boat was found, and both occupants were safely returned to shore.

Officials say both of them had been wearing life jackets. They were taken back to shore and cleared by EMS. The Pinconning/Fraser Fire Department and Northern Bay ambulance aided in the rescue.
