Bay County Recount In State House Race Shows No Significant Change In Results

A recount in the 96th District State House Democratic primary race from August 2nd resulted in a net gain of one vote for the winner Brian Elder over second place finisher Don Tilley.

Tilley had requested recounts of regular and absentee ballots in Bay City’s Ward Five, Precinct One and in Monitor Township’s Precinct Two.

Tilley cited discrepancies between votes in his race and the overall vote totals.

Although there were some instances where voters did not mark the Elder-Tilley race on their ballots, it was not enough to make a significant difference.
