Bay County Executive Jim Barcia says for the first time in more than two decades, the Civic Arena is poised to break even financially at the end of this fiscal year. Ever since it opened the Arena has required subsidies from the County general fund.

But Barcia says the hard work of Arena staff helped turn things around including renting conference rooms plus hosting family events and birthday parties. He added the start of a new semi-pro adult hockey league this fall with one of the teams at the Civic Arena should improve its
bottom line even more to where it could soon start to turn a profit.
