Bay City’s own “Miss Michigan” received a proclamation from Mayor Kathleen Newsham during the City Commission meeting Monday, July 15 declaring the date as Mallory Rivard Day.

Rivard called the experience a whirlwind. She says to represent her hometown is “truly amazing.” Rivard, who works at Bay City’s Macgregor Elementary School, will be starting her third year teaching first graders this fall as she prepares for the pageant, which will be televised nationwide on NBC.

Rivard says a date and location are still being worked out.
