A Bay City native has been crowned Miss Michigan 2019.

24-year-old Mallory Rivard was crowned the winner of the 2019 Miss Michigan Scholarship pageant held at the Muskegon Frauenthal Center on Saturday, June 15. Rivard is a proponent of childhood literacy and has a program, Read to Succeed, which empowers parents to read to their children to improve literacy rates. She is a graduate of Bay City Western High School, holds a bachelor’s degree from Saginaw Valley State University and is currently at work on a master’s degree in early childhood education. She is the daughter of Troy and Wendy Rivard of Frankenlust Township.

Rivard is now eligible to compete in the 2020 Miss America Scholarship Program pageant. As the winner of the Miss Michigan pageant, she received a $12,000 scholarship and is also the recipient of the $500 Shelley Taylor Lead With Your Heart Award.
