Bay City Vehicle Explosion Under Investigation
The Bay City Department of Public Safety is investigating a vehicle explosion. Officers responded to a home in the 300 block of S. Kiesel about 8:40 Tuesday morning, after the resident discovered the damaged vehicle. The resident told officers they heard a loud noise between 5:00 and 6:00 a.m., but did not see the damage until leaving for work.
Investigators said the explosion appears to have come from inside the vehicle, which was severely damaged. The vehicle did not catch fire, no one was injured and there was not believed to be any threat to the general public.
The Michigan State Police bomb squad and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisted with the investigation.
