A $76 million overall budget has been adopted by Bay City school board trustees for the 2019-2020 school year.

But Superintendent Stephen Bigelow explained Bay City will still have to borrow around $7 million to cover expenses early in its fiscal year due to delays by state lawmakers approving their budget. He says the district is in good financial shape with a general fund balance reserve of just over 11.3 percent.

Trustees also approved a 5th grade athletic program with about $71,000 for sports, including basketball, volleyball, flag football and swimming.
