Bay City Restuarant Owner Charged with Tax Fraud

A restaurant owner in Bay City is under fire in federal court for filing a false tax return.

45-year-old Jose Costilla was charged with tax evasion on July 7 in the Eastern District of Michigan United States Court. According to court documents, Costilla only claimed  $39,205 in total income on his 2019 tax report for the 2018 fiscal year. Prosecutors say he knowingly submitted a false report as he is the owner of five restaurants around Bay City.

Costilla returns to court on August 2.
