Bay City House Fire, Cause Under Investigation

A house fire in Bay City on Monday evening claimed the lives of two pets. Fire crews were dispatched to the 1400 block of McCormick Street around 4:45 p.m., where they found flames coming from the basement and spreading to the second floor and attic. With assistance from Bangor and Portsmouth township fire departments, crews were able to bring the fire under control. No human injuries were reported, but two pets died in the blaze. The Bay City Department of Public Safety is investigating the cause of the fire. Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from causing further damage to the structure. An official cause has not yet been determined.
