Bay City Girl Receives Mayoral Proclamation For Life Saving Effort

Bay City Mayor Kathleen Newsham presented a proclamation during the City Commission meeting Monday, August 5 to 11-year-old Leeah Juliann Dahn.

Dahn got her family to safety after hearing a smoke alarm and smelling smoke in their home in the 2700 block of Garfield around 4:00 a.m. on July 15. Fire Department Battalion Chief Paul McBride says many adults would not have acted nearly as calmly as Dahn did, so her family should be very proud of her.

Dahn received gift certificates for free ice cream and Slurpees. She’ll enter 6th grade this fall at Handy Middle School.
