It’s been 10 years in planning, but the first major expansion of the Saganing Eagles Landing Casino reaches a half way milestone. Construction crews put the final piece of steel on the roof of a five story hotel Wednesday.

Soaring Eagle Casino CEO Raymond Brenny says the construction project follows major improvements to utility infrastructure at the Standish Township complex on Worth Road. The 148 room hotel, is slated to open in the fall of next year. The nearly $55 million project includes a 195 seat restaurant serving breakfast, lunch and dinner plus a bar, lounge, hospitality suite and gift shop. The new complex will have 300 additional slot machines, but no table games at this time.

The expansion brings an additional 160 jobs to the casino.

The Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe is looking at future projects including a possible entertainment venue and housing projects. No timetable has been set for the future projects.
