12th Annual Girls on the Run 5k on November 18
On November 18, Girls on the Run (GOTR) Great Lakes Bay will host a celebratory 5K open to men, women, community runners and walkers of all ages.
Also known as the “Reindeer Run,” more than 500 antlered participants will run, walk, and skip through streets of Riverfront Saginaw. The event takes place on a new route this year, which will be a loop on the closed roads ahead of the Positive Results Downtown Holiday Parade on November 18. Registration will open at the YMCA of Saginaw at 1915 Fordney St. at 9:00am.
The 5K will start at the Andersen Enrichment Center at 120 Ezra Rust Dr. at 10:30am and participants will loop through the streets and Hoyt Park, finishing back at the Andersen where they’ll be greeted with a unique hand painted medal, hot chocolate, cookies, shopping at the Downtown Saginaw Farmer’s Market winter market tent, a display of cookie houses, and a great front row view of the Holiday Parade.
Pre-registration is available online at gotrgreatlakesbay.org/5K until November 16. The cost to participate is $30, and proceeds benefit the GOTR Great Lakes Bay scholarship fund. Discounts for families are available, as are opportunities for sponsorships and volunteers.
