100.5 and 790 NewsRadio WSGW and WSGW.COM: Programming Changes

A Message of Change to our WSGW Loyal Family of Radio Listeners:

Since 1950, when WSGW first started broadcasting, our greatest commitment has always been to our listeners.   We often say, without YOU, we wouldn’t be here!   With your radios, smart phones, computers, and other digital devices, you invite us into your homes, your vehicles, your work establishments, and beyond.   WSGW is thankful for the longtime listeners we have had over the years, and also thankful for new generations of Loyal Listeners becoming part of the WSGW Family.   A few years ago, WSGW expanded listening opportunities with the addition of WSGW FM, allowing us to build a franchise of news, talk, and sports radio stations unique in the Great Lakes Bay Region.

We hope we have earned a reputation of being responsible, reliable, and trustworthy, not just for our on-air content, but also for our participation in our local communities.   Have we been perfect?   No way.   And we never will be.   But we are always working hard to serve You, Our Loyal Family of Radio Listeners.

Also over the years, there have been many different WSGW personalities and programs that have come and gone.   Some we remember fondly.   Others were never successful and have long been forgotten.   Either way, changes have always been a part of our personality and programming lineup.

When we make changes, we do so after a lot of thought, research, discussion, and deliberation.   We rely on our experience, the experience of other radio veterans, and the ongoing input we receive from You.   We know changes affect listening habits.   It’s never our intent to upset listeners with changes.   However, change is inevitable.

With all this in mind, we say “THANK YOU”, for your past support, your present support, and for your future support.

Starting Monday, June 24, here are programming changes on 100.5 and 790 NewsRadio WSGW and WSGW.com:

The Art Lewis Show will expand from 9-10am to 9-11am, providing more locally hosted talk time.  Plus, Art’s show will simulcast on both 100.5 and 790 NewsRadio WSGW and WSGW.com.   This will strengthen the signals for Art to engage more listeners with thoughts and opinions offered in our forum of freedom of speech.

Glenn Beck will no longer air on 100.5 FM.

One of the most difficult changes we faced was deciding the future of “Listen to the Mrs”, a 66- year-old program.  We intend to take advantage of today’s technology and make “Listen to the Mrs. with Ann Williams and Art Lewis” a podcast available 24/7 at your convenience.  Several podcasts are already posted on line now.

Here’s a bit of history…   LTTM began as a Kitchen to Kitchen Network to share recipes. Callers would wait several minutes while the show hosts would thumb through card files looking for requested recipes.  Then with the advent of computers, we began a recipe database.  Between the database, card files (which we still have), and a collection of cookbooks, we continued to answer phone calls on air asking for recipes.  In recent years, more homes acquired computers, fast internet connections, smart phones and I-pads.  Anyone could now access virtually any desired recipe in seconds and they no longer had to transcribe a recipe being read to them over the radio.

We began transforming LTTM in the past couple of years to more of a focus on food trends, new cooking methods, and lifestyle information.   You will discover all that and more when you listen to the LTTM podcasts.

Our focus on local broadcasting continues with the simulcast of “Focus” at 11am and “Terry Henne’s Farm Show” at 11:30am, on 100.5 and 790 NewsRadio WSGW and WSGW.com.

This also means more local news heard on 100.5 with newscasts at 9, 10, and 11am.

 Other changes include:

  • Fox Sports Overnight on 100.5 ends this weekend.  We will broadcast “Coast to Coast” overnight which will allow us to add five more Fox Newscasts.
  • “The O’Reilly Update” with Bill O’Reilly will be heard at 12:10pm on 790am, followed by “Dave Ramsey” starting at 12:35pm.
  • The “WSGW Morning Team Show with Charlie, Dave, and Pat continues each weekday, 5:30-9am on 100.5 and 790 NewsRadio WSGW and WSGW.com.
  • All other shows on 100.5 and 790 NewsRadio WSGW and WSGW.com remain, including:  Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Joe Pags, Markley/Van Camp/Robbins on 100.5, and Tom Sullivan, Evening RoundUp, Clark Howard, Our American Stories, Jim Bohannon, Coast to Coast on 790.
