Somebody send Tom Murphy some Maize and Blue! And Ben Maller, too!
(Charlie Rood) Who is Tom Murphy? He’s a sports writer with the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. After that screw-job Michigan loss, Tom voted the Wolverines ahead of Ohio State on his AP Ballot. His explanation:
“Yes, I voted Michigan higher than Ohio State. The Wolverines essentially outplayed their arch rival on the road and I don’t think the football reached the necessary 15-yard line on J.T. Barrett’s fourth-down run in double overtime. As that was the game-decided play, I appointed myself as the replay official and deemed Michigan the winner. Now, if only the College Football Playoff selection committee would do the same. As a side note, while I admire Jim Harbaugh for speaking his mind after the game, he appeared to pin everything on the officiating, which isn’t a good look.”
Thank you, Tom Murphy.
Ben Maller is the overnight host on Fox Sports Radio, heard LIVE, overnights from 2am-5am on WSGW 100.5 FM. Ben and his cohorts got into a conversation about Tom Murphy and here is what Ben had to say:
Thank you, Ben, for your analysis on the play. And, despite you thinking Tom Murphy was wrong, we appreciate the reference to the refs as “stooges” and the “officials suck”.
Now, what’s this about support for Buckeyes? On Monday, as news was breaking about an active shooter on the Ohio State campus (turned out the terrorist was using a knife), several Wolverine football players sent messages of support, safety, and prayers for all Buckeyes.
Life is always more important than a football game.
