First Day Preview For May 26, 2013

It’s Memorial Day Weekend, and while many of you are enjoying a much-deserved long weekend, WSGW keeps working by providing you with up-to-date news, AccuWeather forecasts, sports, and talk shows.

That’s why I hope you can tune-in tomorrow for another thrilling edition of First Day with Pat Johnston & Hilary Farrell from 6-9am on 790AM, 100.5FM, and online at

Pat Johnston (me) and WSGW News Director Ann Williams

Hilary is off this weekend (lucky girl!), but our good friend and colleague, WSGW News Director Ann Williams, nis back in the newsroom this Sunday to bring you the latest news across the Great Lakes Bay Region, the state of Michigan, the nation, and the world.

I’ll give you my award-winning sports reports, including results from tonight’s Red Wings-Blackhawks Game Five, Detroit Tigers-Twins contest, and I’ll be giving you my French Open Tennis picks!!!  I know you can’t wait for that segment at 6:43am.

Music Minutes this week will feature The Doors (in honor of the late keyboardist Ray Manzerek), Jerry Lee Lewis, Earth Wind & Fire, Jackie DeShannon, The Beatles Minute, Palma Violets during the “Pat’s Indie Pick” segment at 8:25am, and “Hilary’s Song of the Week” at 8:44am.

This week’s “Pat Political Point” will focus on my frustration with some of my fellow liberals on their brushing-off of the Department of Justice’s spying on the press scandal.

We’ll have a Memorial Day-themed “Pat’s Movie Trivia” at 8:40am.

Plus, as always, we’ll have the latest AccuWeather forecasts, along with our lively banter.

Have a great weekend, and I hope you can tune-in for a little bit, just to let me know whenever I screw up, which happens a lot!
