Interim Saginaw Police Chief Named

Saginaw City Manager Tim Morales has appointed Robert Ruth as Interim Chief of the Saginaw Police Department effective September 11th.That follows the announced retirement of Brian Lipe  who will assume command of the Grand Blanc Police in Genesee County. 

Ruth has been with the Saginaw Police since 1994.  He rose from patrol officer to Detective in 1996.  Additional promotions included Sargent in 2008 and Patrol Lieutenant last year.  Ruth has been Acting Chief several times previously.  He's also the Field and Reserve Officer Training Coordinator plus Special Events Coordinator for the department and holds additional qualifications.

In making the announcement, Morales said Ruth "will continue to provide dedicated and excellent service as Interim Police Chief."
