Bay County United Way is supervising a two day distribution of items youngsters will need to start a new school year. Agency spokesperson Tara Wieland says they'll be serving those who applied prior to a July 15th deadline.
Recipients will get all brand new clothes in their sizes plus tennis shoes. They'll also get a backpack with all the necessary school supplies. Just over 1,000 children are being helped this year compared to about 900 last year. Area foundations, businesses and individuals supported the program.
