The proposed 2014-15 fiscal year budget put before Bay City Commissioners is balanced. That follows a request from the City Manager Richard Finn that each of the department heads trim their respective budgets by approximately five percent, which came mainly in the area of office expenses.
He says some community development groups will also be consolidated under one umbrella designation. Finn added there's no layoffs in the budget plan and no drawing down of dollars from the city's reserve or "rainy day" fund.
An all day budget review session for the city commission is scheduled for May 31st with public input that day and again on June 9th. A final vote is tentatively scheduled for June 16th, prior to the start of the new Bay City fiscal year on July 1st.
