Bay City Seeks State Grant Money To Improve Liberty Bridge

Bay City Commissioners will send a grant application to the state worth over $2.2 million  for improving the Liberty Bridge. City Manager Richard Finn notes if the state says yes to the city's request in the coming fiscal year, there would be a lot of time to prepare plans for the actual repairs, beginning in 2016 at the earliest.

Finn added under the proposal the Bay City would cover 5% of the cost or more than $118,000.

He says having the state take over the city-owned Liberty and Independence Bridges would mean much more money available for fixing local streets.
