Saginaw Valley State University has named Deborah Huntley as its new provost and vice president of academic affairs. SVSU President Donald Bachand recently left the provost's position to become president. He said Huntley is well prepared to accept the assignment and has his full confidence.
Huntley joined the SVSU chemistry faculty in 1998, and has served as dean of the College of Science, Engineering and Technology since 2009. Prior to that, she was associate vice president for academic affairs. Before coming to SVSU, she was a research chemist for 14 years.
Huntley holds Ph.D and masters degrees from Cornell University and earned a bachelor's degree at the University of Connecticut.
She begins her new role on April 21.
