Bay City School Board Talks Best Practices, Approves Playground Equipment

Bay City School District Superintendent Doug Newcombe says the state is preparing to go to on-line assessments in 2015 as Smarter Balance replaces the traditional MEAP test.

Newcombe told school board trustees Monday night that changes will have to be made to accommodate revisions in the testing procedures, although he added it's still unclear how much that will cost. Those changes were discussed as part of a larger district effort to meet state mandated best practice standards.

The board of education also approved the purchase of new playground equipment from multiple bidders for about $50,000 to replace older equipment that had been used for some three decades at MacGregor Elementary School.
