Bay City Commissioners Approve 2016-17 Budget Proposal

Bay City Commissioners approved millage rates and the budget for the proposed 2016-17 fiscal year, totaling just over $132 million on a 7-2 vote. It includes utility rate increases for electric and sewer services,  plus various charges for water as the city transitions to the Bay County-operated water plant.

There’s also a one percent administrative fee to go on property tax bills starting next month, which will generate $300,000 for citywide sidewalk repairs.

The new budget takes effect July 1st.
